After a few month wait from his last installment of the Hip Hop, Soccer, & Comix mixtape series, Austin rapper Global74 returns with his second full-length album, The New Eugenix. Those familiar with Global’s past work will be used to the mystical symbols on the cover and the sometimes ironic, sometimes almost paranoid rapping style he brings on the mic. From government conspiracies to the destruction of the planet, his raps give a unique view of the world. He has a wide range and a skill for rhyming that keep it from being just tinfoil hat rap, however. Production is handled by a few local producers, the most notable contributions by Alpha 2020 (a.k.a. Ike of Mike &…). I also contributed a track years ago that ended up on this project. More on that next week. For now, enjoy the 2020 production, Raining, and holla at Global on myspace or in the streets to cop the album.

Devin The Dude tries to school a couple Complex magazine interns on scooping women. Comedy ensues.
Note: I had a hell of a time getting this to play, and Firefox doesn’t seem to like it at all. If you can’t get the video to work embedded, try going directly to Complex’s site in Internet Explorer. That’s what worked for me, anyway.
I usually keep it hip hop, but this is too crazy to ignore: a gadget that projects helpful information about anything you happen to walk up to. I need this in my life. Thanks to my man Dom Brady.
Mama would be so proud. This week, I made my debut appearance on The 54 Reality Show, the video blog of Killeen’s Crew54. G Christ, C HOV and I talk some ish outside of Poise’s video premier party last Friday night. I would never advise anyone to miss a minute of these, but if you want me to show you what top-form hat game is all about, skip to 5:40.
People have too damn much time on their hands. Peep this flow chart to help you determine what kind of day you’re having. I’m off to cook a breakfast with plenty of hog. Peace.
Happy holidays y’all. I’ll be back next week with a Scarface album review, and maybe some other goodies. Y’all be safe, and tilt back a glass of eggnog for me. Payce!
So if you didn’t download the mixtape like I told you earlier this week, and/or you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, you may be unaware that Clipse has been hyping up their new clothing line, Play Cloths. A quick perusal…there’s a lot of stuff that’s decent. I’d rock a few things, although I’m not big on the idea of investing in $40 designer t-shirts right now (didn’t Jeezy tell y’all? It’s a recession).
That’s not even the news, though. I’m probably late as fack on this (about 3 months, to be exact) but they also have a blog with some very nice free goodies that you’d be well-advised to comb thru. I was geeked.
Anyway, that’s all I got. Have a good week.
(that’s officially all the free advertising their clothing line gets from me)
So somebody decided to post every Pen & Pixel album cover ever. Aside from setting a trend that would lead hip hop graphic design, especially in the south, P&P created some straight up hilarity. Take 6-one’s thong or Lootchasers’ A Million Ain’t Enough (wonder how they did with a few hundred each). From Weezy to Keke, from Flex to Rascal (grown as man?), if you got a “Lil” in front of your name, odds are good you were on one of these covers.
In other news, I can haz G1? So Android appears to be the truth, and since, I’m stranded on my own personal Death Row, I figured I may as well drop this piece of crap Sidekick ID and do it big soon. That said, in true T-Mobile fashion, they made the phone dorky, with a curved form that no one seems to like much. Dilemmas. Just Blaze needs to weigh in on it.
Well, it’s bowling night, and I’m about to raise up, but before I go, I want to leave you with one of my favorite songs off an album with a Pen & Pixel cover:
say what?
